Johnson County Jailer

Steve Rose is a longtime resident of Johnson County and has served as Jailer since 2018.  Prior to being elected as Jailer, Steve served as Constable for District 3 for five terms.  Steve is a retired coal miner and Pastor of the Concord Independent Church at Hagerhill.  He resides in the community of Flat Gap with his wife, Madonna Kretzer Rose and together they have three children and six grandchildren.   As Johnson County Jailer, Steve serves on the Board of Directors for the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.  Also, he is charged with oversight of the Community Service Program at the District Court level.  Under his direction, the Community Service Program has focused on a successful roadside cleanup program.  In 2019, the program in partnership with the Johnson County Solid Waste Coordinator, was responsible for pickup of 2,700 bags of trash, cleaning up 135.2 roadway miles.
